Über die Veranstaltung

‘SPOTLIGHTING’ pulls back the curtain on the invisible labour behind news production at a time when AI-generated noise floods our feeds and trust in journalism is gradually eroding. The exhibition features international documentary photography bringing into the frame the ‘who’ and the ‘how’ of journalism that helps sustain a democratic public sphere. Selected photographs invite us to reconnect with the human pulse and reveal the meticulous ethics behind the headlines we consume or avoid every day.

On 18 March, SPOTLIGHTING’s angle will be brought to life in a discussion between journalists, media experts, and the public: How do media professionals gain the trust of their audiences? How has the way content is presented changed how we see the world? What’s needed to fight back against authoritarianism threatening media freedom and democratic information culture? The n-ost kitchen talk with Sabrina Faramarzi (managing director, Are We Europe) and Nico Schmidt (journalist, Investigate Europe) will take place on 18 March 2026 from 6 pm at the exhibition venue. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The exhibition and talk are organised by n-ost, a European journalism network which helps media professionals collaborate across borders to provide their audiences with rigorous and multifaceted reporting. The project is supported by the Deutsche Postcode Lotterie.
