Deferred Intimacy
Beyond a Memorial — a Living Presence.

This exhibition traces a quiet dialogue sustained over twenty-six years.
Chinese performance artist Yingmei Duan and German artist and scholar Jürgen Bernhard Kuck have shared more than two decades of life and artistic practice. Together they created a universe of their own—a shared world sustained by companionship, while each preserved a distinct inner world.
Today, their relationship can be understood as a form of deferred intimacy—no longer dependent on immediate presence, but continued through performance, painting, video, sound, text, artists' books, a documentary film, and everyday objects. Moving between lived experience and archaeological inquiry, their works explore memory, desire, loss, mythology, and what remains visible in absence.
