To Have, To Hold explores the contradictions of collecting as act, habit, compulsion, method, and social gesture. To collect is not only to gather and preserve, but also to decide what remains outside. Every collection reflects decisions about who gathers, what is kept, and what is left behind. While collections may promise order and coherence, they also register gaps, residues, and erasures that unsettle the stability often attributed to the archive. To Have, To Hold asks how value is made through acts of keeping, and what disappears in the process.
