This exhibition brings together a series of paintings by Berlin-based visual artist Stan Weessies (NL), made in 2025 and 2026. Across the works, painting is approached as the construction of environments - unstable, obscure fields that suggest depth, movement, and a sense of unease. Through scale and compositional tension, the paintings produce spatial conditions that feel both physical and psychological.

A central idea within this selection is that of gyre. In its original sense, a gyre describes a large spiralling motion, most often associated with ocean currents or atmospheric systems. It implies continuous circulation without resolution - a turning movement that gathers, disperses, and returns, but never stabilises. Space is therefore no longer fixed but in motion - folding, looping, and reorganising across the works.

Across the paintings, these shifting environments begin to resemble disturbed landscapes in flux - terrains that resist stability and instead suggest ongoing movement and transformation. Each painting contributes to a broader sense of spatial and psychological instability, where environments are never fully settled, but constantly in motion beneath the surface.
