Mostly Tentacles
Mostly Tentacles is a collaborative exhibition by three artists: Rachel de Joode (Netherlands), Kate Steciw (USA), and Katharina Trudzinski (Germany). All three work at the intersection of photography, collage, sculpture, and painting.
The title of the exhibition refers to "Gelijktijdigheid" by the Dutch poet M. Vasalis. In the poem, perception appears as something excessive and unwieldy: a reaching outward through too many extensions, without ever fully arriving at the world it tries to know. What emerges is not mastery, but a sharpened awareness of the distance between seeing and understanding.
That condition runs through the exhibition at Ostbahnhof. In the work of all three artists, images, materials, and systems do not simply represent perception, but mediate it. They stretch it, delay it, and complicate it. What is grasped is always partial, filtered, and unstable. The works do not resolve that gap. They inhabit it.
