Fabian Hub
Fabian Hub is a Berlin based artist born in Mainz, Germany in 1988. As a Meisterschüler under Professor Thomas Zipp, Hub studied at the renowned Universität der Künste in Berlin.
Central to his painting practice is the continuous reconstruction of the pictorial surface.
Layers are applied, removed, and reassembled. Through this process of construction and dissolution, compositions emerge in which organic and architectural elements intersect.
The image remains suspended between abstraction and figuration.
In his three-dimensional practice, Hub shares a similar fascination for the structural, engaging with space as a medium rather than a limitation. In his recent solo show at Galerie Gegen & Lücke, Hub created a body of work consisting of painting and installation that suggested a map, or rather mapped physical and intangible spaces. ‘adventures on the mind scrap tissue’ tackled not only the idea of space, but how we experience it in real time. His installation ‘Grid Disrupter-Interference Engine’ (2025) filled the space with the gentle symphony of overlapping water droplets, falling into an illuminated basin. The installations tower-like structure not only took up space, but defined its atmosphere – a sentiment Hub carries into both his three-dimensional and two-dimensional practice.
Fabian Hub has exhibited in Mexico City, Basel, Berlin, Helsinki, Frankfurt a.M. and Birmingham(USA), among others. His recent exhibitions include ‘Hallen 06’ with Galerie Gegen & Lücke, ‘B-LA-M’ at Punto Magnolia, Mexico City and ‘adventures on the mind scrap tissue’ at Galerie Gegen & Lücke.
